If you don't know Lewes, you should have a pleasant surprise! It is one of the largest market towns in the UK's National Parks and is renowned for keeping much of its original medieval layout and historic buildings. The Cliffe Hall is named after the area of Cliffe which was a thriving trading settlement, independent of Lewes until the 19th Century. The Street reflects its past and remains a thriving community of almost entirely independent shops, restaurants and bars.

Coming By Car
If you are coming from the East along the A27 turn off to Lewes at the Southerham Roundabout—the first turning to Lewes. After a short drive you will enter a tunnel and at the end turn left at the roundabout, and left again at the next, smaller, roundabout on to Malling Street.
If you are coming from the West along the A27 ignore the first roundabout with a turning off to Lewes and continue along the A27 and take the turning off the Lewes at the next roundabout—the Southerham Roundabout. After a short drive you will enter a tunnel and at the end turn left at the roundabout, and left again at the next, smaller, roundabout on to Malling Street.
If you are coming from the North/North East on the A26 head for Lewes and when you come to the roundabout at the Tunnel, go straight across (2nd Exit) and at the next roundabout turn left into Malling Street.
If you are coming from the North on the A275, continue towards Lewes and as you enter Lewes take the A2029 left and follow that road into town without diverting. Stay on the A2029 travelling East through the town until you reach a roundabout, take the third exit into Malling Street.
For Parking at the Phoenix Car Park (advised): Once in Malling Street, follow the street round the left bend and almost immediately turn into the street on the right, which takes you to the car park.
For Parking at the Hall itself: Once in Malling Street, continue round the left bend, then, after a short straight stretch, drive round the sharp right hand bend and continue. When you reach the Church on your right, turn right into Cliffe High Street. Immediately past the Church turn right into the large gap between the Church and the next house and park at the Hall as close as you can to the planters and bollards on the left and with your car close up to the Entrance of the Hall but NOT past the last planter on the left. Please note that parking at the Hall is only available and free for the Hirer, a Helper, and for two blue badge cars but in special circumstances may be used by two other cars with the Manager's agreement.

Coming By Train
Lewes Station is on the following lines, all serviced by Southern Railway:
- To and from London Victoria via Gatwick Airport and intervening stations
- To and from Brighton (with connections further West)
- To and from Hastings via Eastbourne and intervening stations
- To and from Ore and eventually Ashford via Eastbourne and intervening stations

On arriving at Lewes Station you have an 11 minute walk to the Hall:
- Leave at the Main Entrance of the Station and turn right.
- After crossing the bridge over the railway continue to the intersection ahead and turn right into the road on the right (Lansdown Place).
- Continue on the right hand side of the road which soon becomes Friars Walk and follow it until you reach a roundabout.
- Go straight across the roundabout continuing along Friars Walk until you reach the High Street on the left (which climbs steeply), and on the right a very wide pedestrian street.
- Turn into the pedestrian street and walk along, crossing the bridge (where Cliffe High Street begins) and continue to the far end.
- Immediately before you reach the Church, turn into the precinct on the left where you will find the Hall.
Coming By Bus
Brighton & Hove bus services run frequently between Brighton, Lewes and Tunbridge Wells with numerous stops in between. The services are 28, 29 and 29x. You can consult and plan your journey on their timetable online.

The best stop to take in Lewes for Cliffe Hall is in the middle of Town:
Brighton and Hove Buses: If travelling from Brighton get off at Waitrose and facing it, turn right and walk towards the traffic lights—Boots is on the corner. When you reach Boots, turn left into the wide pedestrian street (the High Street climbs up on the opposite side of the road).
Travelling towards Brighton or Hove or travelling on all Compass Buses: Get off near the bottom of the High Street, walk down and cross over the road and into the wide pedestrian street on the other side.
Once in the wide pedestrian street walk along, crossing the bridge over the river where Cliffe High Street begins and continue to the far end. Immediately before you reach the Church, turn into the precinct on the left where you will find the Hall.
